If you happen to keep up with my blog posts, you'll be aware that I have recently begun to find an artistic outlet through illustrative photography. Over the weekend, a lovely young lady and aspiring model named Lillian came by to help me create the foundation for my latest vision. On a recent trip to the zoo I saw this very interesting gathering of vines:
I knew immediately that I could envelop someone in the viney arms that wrapped so magnificently around the pole. I put out the word and Lillian, who also has an interest in being involved with artistic works, answered my call. I created a headdress, gathered some branches, adorned her with moss, and took a variety of shots. This was the one I chose:
After 5-6 hours in Photoshop, the final result of my work was completed and titled "Naissance". I thought originally that the tree would be taking life from her. My stepson had a look while I was working on it and said "with the light, it looks like a birth". He was right and I thought it was quite fitting a metaphor for my own journey. I wasn't familiar with the word naissance, but in the search for the right title the definition on dictionary.com read "a birth, an origination, as that of a person, and organization, an idea, or a movement". YES! The birth or growth of my skills, vision, and ability. I hope you like it!
And here's another look at this lovely lady minus all the greenery. ;-)
